About

Founded in 1932 by Bob Hoffman, York Barbell is an American manufacturer of strength training equipment, from weighted plates to exercise machines. Its headquarters houses the Weightlifting Hall of Fame Museum.

The museum hosts a wide array of pieces from ephemera, vintage equipment, statues, and displays detailing the history of the company and weightlifting. The information covers the evolution of strength sports, from mythology to early Olympic Games, up to modern day Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, and bodybuilding.

A larger-than-life bronze statue of Bob Hoffman, the “Father of World Weightlifting” and founder of York Barbell, stands outside of the entrance to the museum and Hall of Fame.
